I'm back.
Elvis' 1966 Comeback Tour featured a lot of leather...
I'm not sure whether I had a crisis of confidence or a full blown strop. I do know that I was dissatisfied with being pigeon-holed as a parent blogger when I disagree with the PR policies and lack of comradeliness amongst the parent blogging community and so I have resolved to take a step back. There are people who these networks work for but I'm not one of them. I do think that quality and not quantity should matter when it comes to writing and it does matter more to me than keeping my Google stats up. I'm also not deluding myself into thinking that Tommy Tippee will go into administration if I give their weaning spoons a bad review. If you are offered a perk then that is lovely but you have to go agree to it only if you wholeheartedly believe in what you are saying. I am also opposed to manipulating readers. I am no longer a member of the Tots 100 rankings although I was ranked within the top five percent of all UK parent bloggers. Climbing higher would mean manipulating readers and organising stunts to boost my statistics. I am happy as I am.
I'm here writing this because my life throws up some interesting things to write about. I like to write, I don't pretend to be any good at it but I like to explore interests that I don't get the headspace to think about while looking after the kids. I also write about the highs and lows of living with a child with a disability. It's not clever but I can be funny and for those of you who do read this and have stuck around then I thank you for joining in the ride. Over the next few days I will be giving the blog an overhaul and adding a few new posts about what we have been up to in the last six weeks.
Hope you had a happy Easter. xxx

Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your style of writing and look forward to more posts! :)
a big round of applause to you, and welcome back. People do get hooked up on their ratings and forget the real purpose of their blogs- which should be a relaxed formal online diary/rant/fun thing that lets them express themselves.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Love the Elvis pic by the way :) Blogging should be what you want it to be, posting when you want about what you want is definitely the best way to go otherwise it becomes overload. Glad to have you back :)
ReplyDeleteThank you MiM! I adore 'leather' Elvis. The 1966 Comeback Tour is him at his prime! It's actually good to be back! xx
ReplyDeleteI have a few rants lined up already, Elaine. Thanks again for commenting. We're jut back from a short holiday and trying to get into the swing of school again. I'll be posting soon. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Di. xxx
